Discontinuous itinerary. Visual essay from five interviews
I cannot answer the question of what a city is with the photographs, nor how fundamental nature is in urban space, nor how public space is a place of meetings and possibilities among its inhabitants. In response to the challenge of intertwining photographs with the answers of those who think about space and ways to intervene in it, I make an imaginary journey through my photographic archive.
As if I were on the ground, climbing a mountain. I reach the top and observe the landscape. I then define my way down. This way, I walk through the entire history of human settlement. At a fast pace, I go through long periods. Photographs are fragments of places of different times. Paths that cross hills and valleys, archaeological spaces, stone architectures, the feeling of a dizzying acceleration that is evidenced by a railroad or an overpass. We cross the largest cities.
The linearity we seek to understand the changes and development of the world around us, which can be broken by a more attentive reading of reality. The photographs reveal existing tensions in the places. Nothing is absolutely continuous. Timelines and space intersect almost always randomly.
